Children’s education at CCC

CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES:

Nursery

   Children birth through pre-school age receive loving supervision and Christian nurture through the capable ministry of our Nursery Attendant, Cathy Jackson.  Cathy grew up in this congregation and is well-respected and loved by all, both children and adults alike.  Her vision for children includes recognition that they have an important ministry to offer even at a young age, and she skillfully brings out those gifts in the children in her care. 

   In addition to Cathy’s consistent presence, volunteer helpers are also scheduled to help staff our busy nurseries on Sunday mornings.  Volunteers must submit a background screening application to the Youth Minister, Laura Sauvage, and be in good standing with the congregation.   

   The toddler and infant nurseries are located in the south hallway, just past the church office.

Church School –

  Starting September 13, 2009 at 9:30 the children in grades K-6 will introduce a new curriculum "Children Worship & Wonder".  This is a sensorimotor style storytelling as a primary means for encountering God, so God is experienced, not just learned.  It gives appropriate freedom, so children can respond to stories of God through continued working the story figures and art material.  It enables children to bring their lived experiences into dialogue with God in the biblical stories.  It also provides a way for children to tell the stories of God to others.

Afternoon for Kids

    Afternoon for Kids is for K-6th grades on the early release days. We will be picking kids up from school or parents may drop them off at church. We will have a time for study (Bible stories), a
time of fun (playing in the Family Life Center) and a time to fellowship (eating, talking and getting to know one another over a meal).
     Several people have already volunteered to help with Afternoon for Kids but I still need more volunteers. The early release dates for the remainder of the year are: March 24, April 14, & 28,
May 12 & 24 (the last day of school as it stands now). We will pick kids up at 2:00 p.m. or parents drop them off at church and finish up in time for Kid’s Choir at 6:30 or kids can be picked up any time.
    If your child/children are interested in attending please contract me. We need to know how many to prepare food and material. Download Van permission slips and permission slips . I will need the forms returned to me by March 17.
