The mission of Community Christian Church is to proclaim Christ’s love to all people, and a big part of that proclamation is through Outreach, our service to others in the community and throughout the world. Here are some of the projects we support on a regular basis:
Christmas Is Sharing Thank you for your generosity and hard work of several shoppers and wrappers who put in extra time. Contact Linda Martin to volunteer 346-5872. Meals on Wheels This program delivers meals to individuals at home who are unable to purchase or prepare their own meals. We organize teams of people to deliver meats to local residents through the Senior Center once or twice a month and are looking for people to help. Please contract Coordinators Bill & Beth Finke 346-8371 if you would be interested in volunteering. LAMB House (Lake Area Ministerial Benevolence) This ecumenical organization is supported by various Churches in the Camdenton community as an extension of the the Lake Area Ministerial Alliance. It provides assistance to the needy by providing food, clothing, commodities and occasionally fuel and rental assistance. Volunteers are needed to sort and attach coupons at Gerbes, sort donated items, stock shelves in the pantry and work in the store. LAMB House volunteers can call Linda Martin at 346-5872. Share the Harvest Food Pantry & Thrift Shop http://www.foodpantry-greenviewmissouri.org/ Share the Harvest Food Pantry is currently serving 550-600 families or 1800+people and that continues to increase. The food comes from Central Missouri Food Bank, USDA Commodities, and donations from the community. All monies earned from the Thrift Store go to help with the Food Pantry. Chocolate for Charity Act as if what you do makes a difference…it does. The second annual community Chocolate for Charity was a success—thirty two entries and no two were alike!! Chocolate Espresso Mouse, White Chocolate Carrot Cake Almondine, Eight Layer Ferro Rocher Chocolate Delight, and many more were on the menu. Over 250 people enjoyed a light supper of homemade chicken salad, brats, popcorn, lemonade and coffee—and then the sampling began. After an intense round of tasting the following were the 2011winners: Amateur Class Best Chocolate Fix- Dianna Phillips Chocolate Peanut Clusters Loco for Coco- Tracy Welty Chocolate Cheesecake Best Creative Use Of Ingredients- Jimmy Jackson Espresso Bark Professional Class Best Chocolate Fix- Tupelo Honey’s Cookies & Milk Loco for Coco- Elijah Bakery Chocolate Decadent Cookies Best Creative Use Of Ingredient- Cap’n Ron’ White Chocolate Carrot Cake Almondine People’s Choice- Deb White Mississippi Mud Cake Thanks to Rick Bryant and Bryant Auction. With his help we were able to raise a little over $3,000 to help those in need in our community! Thanks be to God! Habitat for Humanity Citizens Against Domestic Violence CADV a non-profit organization that provides crisis intervention, shelter, advocacy, and support to victims of family violence and sexual assault. All services are confidential and free, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The shelter home for abused women and families always has a list of items they need in addition to cash donations. Check the Disciples Women bulletin board in the fellowship hall for a current list, or call Dianne Revels 280-1300. Lost Coins Ministry The Lake Area Ministerial Alliance has a voucher program that assists persons needing money for gas, groceries or meals. The vouchers are distributed through the sheriff’s department but supplied through local churches. To donate, call Cathy Jackson 346-4946 or slip your contribution in one of the coin banks located on the table in the main hallway. Festival of Sharing The second weekend of October is Festival of Sharing in Sedalia, Missouri at the state fairgrounds. Health kits, hygiene kits, baby layettes, school kits, beans and rice, and various other goods are collected from all over the state and distributed to helping agencies. Last year we provided 220 health kits and 25 emergency clean up buckets. Salvation Army Every year in December we assist with the Christmas Bell Ringing project at local stores to generate funds to help local residents needing assistance from Salvation Army. Call Judy Crawford, 346-7642. SALVATION ARMY BELL RINGERS THANK YOU What a great job you did. Because of the love and concern of our bell ringers we were able to cover the areas needed for the Salvation Army. Thank you so much. We will have a report for you in the near future to let you know what was collected. Judy Crawford Lake Area Helping Hands This is the local homeless shelter located on West Hwy 54. It provides shelter for families, single women and men. Assistance is provided in obtaining social services and finding employment. The shelter is a not for profit corporation funded by local churches, organizations, friends and government/corporate grants. Help is always welcome in staffing the office, organizing the food and clothing, storage area, and building maintenance. Rainbow Network www.rainbownetwork.org Rainbow Network is a Christian ministry dedicated to sharing the love of Jesus Christ with Nicaragua's poorest people through nutrition, healthcare, economic development, education, and housing. Our congregation routinely and continually contributes shoes for the very poor in Nicaragua. We have a collection tub in the Fellowship Hall for you to drop off good used or new shoes. Our contact is Sara Reiter 317-0962. Special Offerings: The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) encourages four special offerings throughout the year to support our denominational ministries. EASTER – for General Ministries implementation of Disciples Imperative to strengthen congregational life. PENTECOST– for new church development, divided equally between the region in which the offering is received and general new church ministry. THANKSGIVING – for higher education institutions who are responsible for the theological education of the church’s leaders. CHRISTMAS – for ministries in the region where the funds are contributed for implementation of the church’s imperative: “To strengthen congregational life for this mission.” http://www.mid-americadisciples.org Two other special offerings are collected: Week of Compassion (in February) for crisis and disaster relief http://www.weekofcompassion.org/ Reconciliation (in September) for anti-racism/pro-reconciliation ministries. This yearly project shows the generosity of our Disciples. Each year we sponsor families in the community who are in need. We provide not only the necessities but help to make their Christmas a little happier with a "goodie box", including gifts, Christian books and even a gas card. In 2008 we were able to provide Christmas for seventeen families.

Lake of the Ozarks Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry seeking to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness, making decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.
The local affiliate has built 13 homes providing homes for 17 adults and 34 children. Habitat needs volunteers for construction; cashiers and support staff in the Restore; and family support.
