Children’s Education at CCC

Nursery

   Children birth through pre-school age receive loving supervision and Christian nurture through the capable ministry of our Nursery Attendant, Cathy Jackson.  Cathy grew up in this congregation and is well-respected and loved by all, both children and adults alike.  Her vision for children includes recognition that they have an important ministry to offer even at a young age, and she skillfully brings out those gifts in the children in her care. 

   In addition to Cathy’s consistent presence, volunteer helpers are also scheduled to help staff our busy nurseries on Sunday mornings.  Volunteers must submit a background screening application to Pastor Laura Sauvage, and be in good standing with the congregation.   

   The toddler and infant nurseries are located in the south hallway, just past the church office.

Church School

  Children in kindergarten through sixth grade participate in "Children Worship & Wonder,"  a Montessori-style Bible story curriculum focused on storytelling and individual exploration and expression in age-appropriate ways.

    The classroom is located on the north side of the new education wing.

Visitors are always welcomed, so encourage your child to bring a friend!

Acolytes for 4th- 6th Graders

    An acolyte is literally a young "helper" or servant, who assists by carrying the Light of Christ (flame) into the sanctuary at the start of worship service, lights the chancel candles, and returns at the end of the service to extinguish the candles and carry the Light of Christ back out into the world.  Training is necessary, but open to any child 3-6th grades.  Contact Pastor Colleen to register your child, or to ask questions.

Children's Choir for K- 6th Grade

   CCC Music Director Chris Buttram directs a children's choir which sings monthly at the 10:45 Sunday worship service. 

     Rehearsal time is every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the choir room.  Regular attendance and commitment is critical, but newcomers are always welcome!  The only criteria is a willing attitude.

Children's Library

    We have a children's library located in the north hallway of the education wing, just outside the Worship & Wonder classroom.  Books on Bible stories, values, Christian holidays, and inspiration are available at various reading levels, along with a few Spanish books as well.  Children are encouraged to take a book with them to worship or check them out to read at home and return at their leisure.

Christian Children's Theater Camp: July 30-August 3
"God's Game Plan"
Children 3 years old through those who have finished 6th grade are invited to share in the production of a musical about God's master plan for each of us.  CCTC runs from 9AM to 12:00 noon Monday through Friday, with the musical open to the public on Friday evening at 7PM.  Preschoolers have their own workshop, while children in grades K through 6 choose between working with the Cast or Crew.  The musical will be directed this year by Debbie and Christy White.

    Christian Children's Theater Camp was introduced in the summer of 2006 with great success.  Children preschool through 6th grade work at various levels to produce a musical at the end of the week, including hand-made concessions to sell which benefit a Christian charity.
